- Paper test offered in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, French Canadian, and Lg Print
ServSafe does offer online curriculum and online exam (must be proctored).
- Their exam can be done online but must be proctored at a ServSafe proctor’s location (offered in Eng, Spn, and Chinese).
- Student must purchase online exam voucher from ServSafe and pay an additional fee to the proctor to be proctored.
- Course hours can vary (6-14 hours) – FPM instructors with Extension offer 1 or 2 day classes.
- 90 questions (10 are pilot questions), 2 hour time limit. Must score 75% to pass (answer 60 of 80 questions correctly)
Both paper and online exams MUST be proctored – FPM instructors with Extension can proctor this exam (paper or online.)

Prometric

- Does not offer online curriculum but can purchase a paper based training manual.
- Their exam can be done online but must be proctored at a test site (offered in Eng only) or a proctor set up to do online exams (offered in Eng, Eng/Spn, Eng/Korean) – (FPM instructors cannot proctor these online exams)
- Course hours can vary (6-14 hours) – FPM instructors with Extension offer 1 or 2 day classes 80 questions, 2 hour time limit. Must score 70% to pass.
- Paper based languages – Eng, Eng/Spn, Eng/Traditional Chinese, Eng/Vietnamese, and Eng/Korean
- Must be proctored – FPM instructors with Extension can proctor this paper exam.

National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP) (800-446-0257)
- Does offer online curriculum that can be taken and then test at a Pearson VUE test center
- Their exam can be done online but must be proctored at a Pearson VUE test site (offered in Eng and Spn) or a proctor set up to do online exams (offered in Eng and Spn) – (FPMinstructors cannot proctor these exams online or the paper exams)
- 80 questions, 2 hour time limit. Must score 75% to pass.
- Paper based languages – Eng, Spn, Korean, Vietnamese, modern and traditional Chinese, Arabic, and Japanese
- Must be proctored.

Texas does allow two exam providers to be un-proctored that are online but are
only valid in Texas – called Food Guard (part of Texas Restaurant Association (TRA) who is under
ServSafe – NRAS) and Learn to Serve and both are approved by TDSHS.
